su grabación anterior, "Qué
hablen los habladores", Michel sacó
el funk sin límites, canciones que te hacían bailar
y reir con un estilo que sólo él podía. Pero
en esta última grabación después de escucharla
unas cuántas veces, me pregunté "Qué
pasó?"
No
hay nada nuevo aquí, sólo que está probando
un estilo de salsa colombiana comercial. Canciones como "Te
fuistes" te dan ñáñaras pensar
que un individuo con tanto talento puede sonar tan plano, hasta
aburrido.
Uno
de los pocos temas buenos es "Pa' que usted lo cante",
un cha-cha-chá dulce con un piano solo intoxicante de Maikel
García, pero hasta este tema te recuerda más
del sonido de los Estéfans de Miami.
Las
notas adentro del CD acreditan a Luís A. Domínguez
como el único autor (en sus otras grabaciones
hubo una mezcla de autores, incluyendo a Maza). Cierto o no, las
canciones faltan inspiración y peor, la voz de Michel suena
sin entusiasmo. No estoy seguro qué pasa con artistas cubanos
haciendo eso (me recuerda a Haila), pero si eso
sigue, nosotros los amantes de la música popular cubana
tendremos problemas. Este álbum es sólo para entusiastas. |
On
his previous release "Qué
hablen los habladores" Michel brought the
uncut funk, songs that made you dance and laugh with a style that
only he could pull off. On his latest release after a few listens
I asked my self, what happened?
There's
nothing really new here, except that he's trying his hands on
commercial salsa ála Colombian sound. Songs like "Te
fuistes" make you cringe at the idea that this talented
individual is sounding flat, even bored.
One
of the few bright spots is "Pa' que usted lo cante"
a sweet Cha-cha-chá with an intoxicating short piano solo
from Maikel García but even that reminds
you more of the Estefan’s Miami sound.
The
liner notes credit Luís A. Domínguez as
the sole writer (on his other releases there was a mix of writers
including Maza). True or not, the songs sound uninspired and worse,
Michel’s voice sounds like he’s just going thru the motions, just
another gig. I'm not sure what’s going on with artists in Cuba doing
this (Haila comes to mind) but if this continues,
we as music lovers of popular Cuban music are in trouble. This one
is only for enthusiasts. |
